As at First

Love you
Want you
Cruelly;
Frustration
Desolation
Degradation
Ultimatum
Sensation
Of death
Of love
Of desire
Rekindled
We mingle
As at first
Love

  1. Reminds me of the minimalist lyrics of a particular Nine Inch Nails song (which I can’t for the life of me remember what it’s called) – only you give yours a happy ending, which this song definitely does NOT! 🙂

  3. I like this and I like the style of reducing down to single words. It is saying a lot in such a small space. It’s given me an idea to work on.

    • heh-heh – someone once told me that if a relationship is to last the people in it need to fall in love frequently – perhaps there’s some of that story in this …

  8. You really got the phases of a tempestuous love, romantic and passionate as it brings us full circle.

  9. My favorite kind of poetry—straight to the point, and still you told an entire story. Bravo.

  10. “Eraser” lyrics by Trent Reznor… Not the cheeriest of songs, but I think it was your opening words that put this in my head…

    “Need you
    Dream you
    Find you
    Taste you
    Fuck you
    Use you
    Scar you
    Break you
    Lose me
    Hate me
    Smash me
    Erase me
    Kill me”

See? Doesn’t end well… It’s from the Downward Spiral album from about 1993-4, which is a pretty visceral record… I have to be in the right frame of mind to listen to it! 🙂
