An image of Claude Monet in his garden in Giverny with an unidentified visitor. From The New York Times photo archive, dated only 1922, author not given (the image presumably in a Times December 24, 1922 profile on the painter). (Photo credit: Wikipedia)

With apologies to Abba, this is a ‘tribute’ to them and to Monet (!) and penned for the prompt by Claudia in today’s dVerse.

Monet, Monet, Monet

I daub all night, I daub all day, to pay the bills I have to pay
Ain’t it sad
Yet nothing sells except you see the paintings of the water lilies
That’s too bad
In my dreams I have a plan
Sell a daub by the Monet man
I wouldn’t have to paint no more,
I’d smoke a joint and maybe score …

Monet, Monet, Monet
Must be funny
Impressionist’s world
Monet, Monet, Monet
Always sunny
Impressionist’s world
Aha-ahaaa
All the things I could do
If I had a real Monet

Impressionist’s world

Impressionist’s world

A daub like that is hard to find and I can’t get it off my mind
Ain’t it sad
I search the shops so hopefully yet Monet doesn’t come to me
That’s too bad
So I must leave, I’ll have to go
Continue water lily piccies, oh woe
And daub my way through life the same, ‘cos life is never just a game …

Monet, Monet, Monet
Must be funny
Impressionist’s world
Monet, Monet, Monet
Always sunny
Impressionist’s world
Aha-ahaaa
All the things I could do
If I had a real Monet

Impressionist’s world

Monet, Monet, Monet
Must be funny
Impressionist’s world
Monet, Monet, Monet
Always sunny
Impressionist’s world
Aha-ahaaa
All the things I could do
If I had a real Monet

Impressionist’s world

  3. Loved this as soon as I saw the title. If you ever fancy singing it out I could harmonize with you and be your Agnetha or Annafried 🙂
I went to Monet’s Gardens at Giverny 20 years ago. Absolutely Wonderful!! With a garden like that, I’m sure he didn’t really tire of painting his Lillies 😉
