Shhhhh, do you hear that?
Shhhhh, there t’is again,
A rustling, a snuff-
ling, a freaky squeak
from the gate. Who goes
there? Who is it scare-
ing, staring me witless?

Shhhhh, do you hear that?
There, in the corner,
the dark corner of
time, where creatures and
numb nameless bad things
lurk for the lonely,
on dark, dark nights when …

Shhhhh, do you hear that?
There’s no moonlight and
Halloween jitters
see you littering
garlic and crosses
at the threshold of,
cold, bleak …

Shhhhhh, do you hear that?
