Finch and Cat

Golden finch perched on
Sharp wire, mind your toes.
Feed on fat ball, watch
Cool cat stalk below

The  rustic table.
A mound of mealworms,
Red robin’s fast food,
Away the finch turns

Preferring cereal.
Finches find mealworms
Cool cat waits, yawns.

  1. Those cats are patient feckers I can tell you! Nice and descriptive!

  2. Cats do enjoy playing with their food. 🙂 Well done!

  3. Patience has it’s own rewards huh? I wouldn’t be so patient lol 😛

  4. If what I read about recently in the newspaper is true–that roaming cats are responsible for a huge amount of bird killings–then I’d say Finch better be on the lookout. The cat will likely be the victor!

  5. Cats are patient and I believe they know how sharp the wire is. A cliffhanger that leaves me hoping the bird can hold on.

  6. Oh that ever so patient cat…pretends it’s not interested and then… lovely poem.

  7. Let’s hope that naughty puddy tat has a bell on its collar!
