Summer Bench

A summer party in a lovely garden–smell the scents of summer 🙂

A rickety garden bench
needs ballast.
One sits
the other descends
to balance;
the bench wobbles,
lowers its legs into
soft green grass.
Drink flows
talk spills over
from the top of
full glasses.

  1. Sounds like a very inviting garden party 🙂

  2. I was that ballast on the bench…

  3. Everyone needs support, right?

This is one of those “slice of life” poems you do so well, along with Brian Miller and a few others. Sometimes the best times are the sloppy ones, the moments when nothing is perfect, save the company. Nice one, Polly! Amy

  4. You absolutely placed us in this gorgeous, lush garden with such a few words. Delightful!

  5. Thanks for the invitation! 🙂 It was the garden event of the season.

  6. One day, Lea, for sure, we’ll spend time together 🙂 x

  7. This a lot of fun, and you’ve handled the tweet poem masterfully. k.

    • Ah … a typically British summer party, later interrupted by rain. We carried on indoors where there were sturdier chairs 🙂

Good to see you enjoyed ‘Tweet’, too.
