richards

The richards are out tonight,
hooray!
The richards are out tonight,
yay!
We don’t have to listen
or see nose hair glisten.
The richards are out tonight!

The richards are in tonight,
ah hell.
The richards are in tonight,
ah well …
No accounting for drivel
as they jack and snivel.
The richards are in tonight.

We’re out.

  1. I don’t know what ‘the richards’ are, but I don’t think I want their glistening nose hair anywhere near me…

  2. Confused…. Is it “dicks”? Or am I being too literal? Whatever, it doesn’t sound like they’re too nice!

  5. Polly,

It is oft said that laughter is the best medicine. Thank you for a big dose! Great fun and I’m grateful they are not my neighbours. 🙂

  6. Got confused by this one too. For a mo I thought you’d sent me a poem for Richard’s 40th tomorrow. I have bought him a nose trimmer 🙂

  8. After the first line, I figured “The Richards” was a euphemism for “the dicks,” but maybe I just have a dirty mind!

This was great – not just the rhyme scheme, but the wicked humor. Hooray for you! Amy

  9. It sounds like you had a good time out and were not happy staying in. We stay in ALL the time it’s getting a little depressing actually. Maybe it’s the rain who knows!
