Writings and Witterings

Flaxy Wings

Sprout wings, flaxy wings,
sparkle in the sunshine wings,
taut tensile gossamer
gentle and edged in springtime green.

Then, fly from hilltop
to hilltop marking
wayside stones and bones;
flit through tall and towering trees,
as a fresh damply morning
chuckles the nose.

The dew glints
and we skim archaic tracks.

  1. Poetry is beautiful and I like the morning dew in the sun

  2. Lovely poem, Polly. I especially like this line:
wayside stones and bones; ~ I think I just love the gravity of it, in juxtaposition to the ‘gossamer’ of the rest of the poem. 🙂

  3. Sounds like a red kite to me – but then perhaps I have animals on my brain right now…

  4. That’s a lovely piece!

  5. I can smell the morning dew – beautiful poem 🙂

  6. I love this line “taut tensile gossamer” such an exquisite choice of words, Polly!

    • Thank you Kirsten – must say I enjoyed your post about the different poetry forms you’re using throughout Napowrimo, fab! 🙂
